Record attempt by the youth fire departments
Water transport altitude record on the Pizol
On Friday, July 11, 2025, a very special spectacle awaits the region: over 200 motivated young people from the youth fire departments of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein will attempt to set a height record in water transport - using pure muscle power, technical skill and real team spirit.
The record attempt
The route runs for 12.6 kilometers from the valley station in Wangs up to the Pizol. It covers an impressive 1,683 meters in altitude. The aim is to transport water from the valley station of the gondola lift to the new reservoir at the Pizolhütte. A temporary extinguishing water pipe is used, which is installed and operated by all participating groups working together. The actual record attempt starts at 13:30. To be considered an official record, water must be pumped into the lake for at least half an hour without interruption.
Spectators welcome
The event is open to the public. Families, hiking enthusiasts, fire enthusiasts and the curious are cordially invited to join in live. An attractive supporting program will be offered along the route and at the mountain station. The event promises exciting insights into modern firefighting technology, sizzling excitement along the route - and of course the breathtaking mountain backdrop of the Pizol. Stefan Büsser has been recruited to host the event and will guide you through the day eloquently and with humor.
Appreciation of the fire department youth
This record attempt underlines the commitment of young firefighters and their central role in the future of safety organizations in the region. The campaign sends out a strong signal for youth development, social cohesion and volunteer work.
