Pizolbahnen is delighted to support Janine Schmitt as its new main sponsor. The 24-year-old from Wangs and member of the "Graue Hörner" ski club has secured a permanent starting place in the 2024/25 Ski World Cup by winning the overall European Cup. As a speed specialist, she has continuously improved over the last few years and will be competing regularly in World Cup races this winter.
Tradition and sustainability in the promotion of young talent
Pizolbahnen has always been committed to promoting young local and regional skiers. A comprehensive package of measures offers operational and financial support. The regional ski clubs and racing groups benefit from excellent training conditions and designated race courses. There is also a close and long-standing collaboration with the Sarganserland-Walensee Ski Association.
In addition to promoting top-class sport, the focus is particularly on promoting grassroots sport. With over 2,300 members, including 650 children, the regional ski clubs provide outstanding training at grassroots level. Thanks to these framework conditions, athletes repeatedly make it into the Swiss Ski national squad - including Janine Schmitt, who is now among the world's best.
Pizol racing and training center
Alongside St. Moritz, Lenzerheide and Davos, Pizol is one of the few destinations in south-eastern Switzerland with FIS-homologated speed slopes. The wide range of pistes also covers all technical disciplines. This first-class infrastructure is regularly used by ski clubs and racing groups for both training and numerous races.
With the snowmaking project 4.0, a further foundation has been laid to guarantee first-class piste conditions right from the start of the season. Together with the ski clubs, the Pizolbahnen operate and maintain this infrastructure, which offers ideal training conditions for the region's young skiers for almost four months.
