Expansion stage in Wangs completed

In summer 2025, a further stage of the "Snowmaking 4.0" project was implemented and successfully completed. The focus was on the expansion on the Wangs side. A total of 2,331 m of new cast iron pipes, 2,151 m of air pipes and 10,863 m of cable protection pipes were laid. In addition, 47 new standpipes were built and 49 modern snow guns were procured.

Thanks to this work, the snow output between the SAC valley and the ford can be increased from 35 l/s to 212 l/s. This is a significant improvement for more efficient and reliable winter operations. The investment for this stage amounted to around CHF 1.9 million.

The system was successfully tested and handed over to Pizolbahnen ready for operation at the beginning of November. We would like to thank the companies involved, the Alpkorporation Wangs and the representatives of the authorities involved.
